ESTABLISHMENT OF INCUBATORS

ISBA’S mandate envisages close cooperation with Governments (Central & State) and other agencies to scale up the number of Incubators in the country. So far several initiatives have been taken up with State Governments and other organisations to assist / facilitate / support in establishing Incubators covering different models and sectors. ISBA brings expertise from its member incubators in these projects.

INCUBATION OF INCUBATORS (On Going)

The Ministry of MSME jointly with Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH are implementing a project on Innovation Promotion in MSMEs under which there is a component to establish 10 Incubators in various sectors by systematically fostering cooperation between industry, academia and government. Startups, Social Enterprises and other Small Ventures which get promoted from these Incubators would greatly contribute to innovation capacity and sustainability of MSMEs.

The programme is being executed over THREE PHASES:

Phase 1: Evangelization Workshops across the country

Phase 3: One-to-One Mentoring, Setup & Operationalisation of Incubators

Government of Telangana (On Going)

ISBA assisted the Maharashtra Government in preparations of a project establishing an Electronics Incubator at Hyderabad

Government of Maharashtra

ISBA in collaboration with IESA assisted the Maharashtra Government in preparations of a project to setup an Electronics Incubator at Pune

Government of Karnataka

Government of Karnataka in value partnership with ISBA established a PPP Incubator at Bengaluru. The project titled GIFTS – Govt. of Karnataka Incubator for Tech Startups was to establish Incubators with partial financial support from Government and operations to be managed by a competent Private Entity.

GOVERNMENT ENGAGEMENT

Strengthening of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, requires active engagement with Governments to provide inputs that can then evolve into development of policies, frameworks and incentives. ISBA engages with the Government Departments that promote Incubators and define policies and action plans. Many such activities are driven by our Member Incubators.
